Jordan intends to execute projects and investments in Kurdistan-Iraq 2.10.2005

Amman - Jordan has decided to execute a number of economic projects in Iraqi Kurdistan region and to supply with the necessary expertise to achieve comprehensive development in the region.

This decision was taken after approximately 80 companies and institutions from the Jordanian private sector have participate in the Iraq reconstruction exhibition in Arbil city, which was held in the middle of last September.

The owners of these companies were introduced to the opportunities of mutual investments that can be established in Kurdistan region, which consists of a number of provinces. It also came in the light of the preparations launched on behalf of the officials in the region for executing mutual projects, attracting Arab, Jordanian and Islamic investments to the region, and offering the necessary incentives and facilities for the success of these projects.

It is worth mentioning that Nechervan Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, has requested for the help of Jordan for improving the economy of the region and supplying it with the necessary expertise to make up for the years of siege that has been imposed against the region since 1990.

On the other hand, a Jordanian delegation is currently visiting Kurdistan region for holding discussions on facilitating the operations of land and air transportation between Jordan and the region, especially after the Royal Jordanian Airlines have launched direct flights between Amman and Arbil, in addition to discussing the arrangements relating to facilitating the direct importation and exportation operations between Jordan and the region.
