Talabani, an Iraqi Kurd, recalled that during his
recent visit to Baghdad, the secretary general of
the League, Amr Moussa, had found wide consensus
among representatives from all the Iraqi political
parties over this new initiative. Previously Moussa
has said the conference should be held in Cairo, but
this idea was rejected by some political formations,
in particular that led by the radical Shiite imam
Moqtada al-Sadr.
