More than 200 Kurds
living in the North East are travelling to Scotland
on Saturday to cast their votes in the Iraqi
elections.
The trip to the polling station in Glasgow has been
organised by the region's Kurdish community, before
Sunday's registration deadline.
The poll is the first nationwide election to be held
in Iraq since the toppling of Saddam Hussein.
Tens of thousands of ex-pats in the UK are expected
to turn out.
Asso Abdulla, chairman of the North East Kurdish
Community, said he was looking forward to casting
his vote.
He said: "I'm happy to vote. Previously we were
deprived of the right to vote by the dictators who
ran the country, so this will be a good election."
