The
witnesses of 'direful' day when 10-year Ilhan was
killed appear
It is claimed that both
Ilhan Maltaş (10) and Raif Maltaş (17) were killed
in Kutlu village, where is asserted to have been
fired by village guard from Oyluk village of Lice,
Diyarbakır (Amed) and militaries of the Bolu
Gendarmerie Commando Brigade.
Saying ''They killed my little Ihan, too, while
keeping my hands, Fikriye Maltaş, the two victims'
mother pointed out that she wanted to face those who
killed her son. They shot my elderly son before my
very eye, too. I spread my killed sons blood on my
other wounded son's body so his body seemed to be
lifeless and I was be able to save his life in that
way''
After a mass grave of 11 emerged in Alaca village of
Kulp, Diyarbakır, Human Rights Commission of the
Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) did show the
Bolu Commando Brigade commanded by Major General
Yavuz Erturk as accountable for the incident.
Aggrieved people of the Brigade came on the scene in
Hatay. It is also put forward that one of
''terrifying events'' claimed to have been held by
village guards, under commandership of Erturk, in
1994 was lived in Kutlu of Lice, Diyarbakır.
The claims emphasize that the village of fifty
houses was razed to the ground and Metin Aktekin,
Zeki Aktekin, Raif Maltaş, İlhan Maltaş, Sıddık
Şanlı and Maksut Şanlı inculding a 10-year child and
a 85-year individual were murdered by village guards
of Oyluk. The public prosecutor office of Lice,
which decreed nonjurisdiction and sent the pleadings
to Military Prosecutor's Office of the 7th Army
Corps Commandership in Diyarbakır, abandoned case
records to time. On July 20, 2003, case was caried
to the European Court of Human Rights in accordance
Articles 6th, 8th, 13th and 14th of the European
Human Rights Contract since all domestic legal steps
had been ended in failure.
''The soldiers had come to several times to make us
afraid. We thought they came to do so, but vice
versa. After coming to village, they had every
remove out. I my 3 were made to go out, too. My most
elderly son, Raif was extra- executed before my
very, as was my little son Ilhan (10). They beat me
with rifle butt. I was afraid that they would kill
my other son. I spread my killed sons blood on my
other wounded son's body so his body seemed to be
lifeless and I was be able to save his life in that
way, otherwise, he was also might have been
killed.''
'Can a 10-year kid be a terrorist?'
Stating the villagers' funerals were loaded a
tractor and buried in a mass grave in Lice, Miss
Maltaş said: ''Two days after incident, we went to
receive the bodies. We wanted to bury the funerals
in village graveyard but Turkish soldiers did not
allow us so, we laid them in graveyard of Kipçe
village, a neighbour village. My murdered sons did
not commit any crimes but they executed before any
judgement. Is our crime to be Kurd? We are Kurd and
dont deny this. How can a 10-year kid be terrorist?
Although we suffered much and much, no body asked
our situation. I want my two sons.''
'This is your son's blood'
Abdulhani Aktekin stated he lost his 17-year son in
the same incident said to be able to remember his
son's last words.'' When I wanted to go to vineyard,
my son desired to come with me and I told him it was
not necessary, which are his lost words. Half an
hour I arrived at the vine yard, I heard gun being
shot. The military troops and village guards, who
had surrounded the village, did not permit us to
enter the dwelling place. They gathered us and kept
prison in the mosque. While I was going home, asked
some women I saw what had happened to my children.
One of them who were holding a nylon bag dripping
blood told that ''This is your son's blood''. I was
shocked.
Perihan Savun with 6 kids, whose husband Sıddık
Şanlı (31) were reported killed in then same event
said: ''My kids were little that time. They took my
husband out of home by force. After laying him down
in front of the mosque, they murdered him (referring
her husband).'' The victim's 8th grade son, Sinan
said that he did not know why his father had been
killed pointing out he knows what is like to live
fatherless.
Sıddık Şanlı's father, Maksut Şanlı (85) said ''They
killed my father in front my house's door and later
his was broadcast in news as a terrorist. They are
village guards (militias) who killed my brother and
father. The soldiers are responsible for wildness
and the guards helped them. It was being told that a
commander had order village ignited and people
killed.''
'I feel as if I had still heard bullet voices and
been in tumult'
Zeliha Hantaş, who was wounded in her throat due to
blood flood by village guards said: ''After military
troops came to village, they started to pot shots.
We, women, sheltered in house but the village guards
fired raked there. I, my daughter and a woman were
wounded. They took us out of the house in spite of
the fact we all were injured. I was loosing blood
and could not bear so fainted. When I regained my
consciousness, I was in a hospital room. 'I feel as
if I there had been bullet voices and I were in
tumult'.
"We are Kurd, treated as terrorist"
Miss Hantaş's daughter Icran Hantaş stated that
village guards intervened in her after she had
wanted to her wounded parent and was beaten said:
''When I forced to spent all the night outside with
other villagers I was just 13.
