The twin brother of pop
star Will Young helped in a vicious unprovoked
street attack on a chef, a court was told today.
Rupert Young, 25, allegedly flew into a rage as he
and two friends rained blows on 35-year-old Kawa
Ghareeb as he passed them on a London road during
the early hours.
And when the Iraqi Kurd managed to break free from
the trio, Young chased him and continued the
assault, it was claimed at Middlesex Guildhall Crown
Court.
Young, of Hungerford, Berkshire, was allegedly
"screaming his head off " as he rushed at Mr Ghareeb
on Millbank in Central London in May last year.
The twin had already suffered injuries, including a
bruised eye, following a separate incident in a
nightclub earlier that evening.
Having received hospital treatment following that
incident, police spoke to "an arrogant and drunken"
Young shortly before the alleged attack on Mr
Ghareeb, the court heard.
Young, David Kennedy, 26, from Shoreditch, east
London, and Anis Shlewet, 25, from Chelsea, all deny
a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
