A Binghamton man was gunned down by Iraqi insurgents while traveling outside Fallujah. He returned to Iraq three months ago as an interpreter for the US military.

Ismail Zebari was a 28 year old Iraqi Kurd who had finally found a new life in America and a new home in Binghamton. He fled Iraq in 1996 and found refugee in Turkey.

He moved to Binghamton in 1997 where his dream came true. He was named one of 58 adults in Binghamton to become a U.S. citizen
