Gorran activist: I don’t need PUK to take me to KDP, I know the way.
London (KurdishMedia.com) 12 October 2009: Osman Banimarani, one of the prominent activist of the Gorran movement told Hawlati, “Such a thing which was called PUK does not exist any more. It is now part of KDP; and if I wish to join KDP, I don’t need the PUK to show me the way. I know a straightforward way myself.”
It was reported earlier that Banimarani would join PUK after leaving to join Gorran movement. He responded to that rumours in Hawlati on Monday.
Rumours have it in private Kurdish circles that Talabani’s plan is to dissolve PUK in KDP; and rumours also have it that Talabani achieve this on condition that Barzani clan, the ruling clan in KDP, to look after his family after his death. Rumaurs also in private Kurdish circles have it that this is part of the strategic agreement between Barzani and Talabani’s clan. However, PUK and KDP have not made anything public to clarify this and the 'strategic agreement' is not public; even the parliament has been kept in the dark.
Talabani stands as a candidate for another term of presidency
In a separate development, KurdishMedia.com informed by people close to Talabani, on condition of anonymity, that he will stand for another term of presidency of Iraq. There have been reports and speculations that Talabani may step down and retire from the office after the completion of his current term which is soon. It appears this is the end of that speculation.
